It doesn't get any better than this. The Kenai River produces consistently great fighting king salmon that average between 40 and 60 pounds with many topping the scales at 80 pounds each season. Imagine the thrill! Bo's can give you this opportunity! The first appearance of kings in mid May is followed by overlapping runs of silver, sockeye and pink salmon, extending the season to early October. The Kenai River produces more trophy King Salmon than any other river in the world.
(The Alaska Department of Fish and Game considers a 50 lb. King Salmon to be a trophy sized fish, everywhere in Alaska except the Kenai River. You have to catch a 75 Ib. King here to qualify!)
No doubt about it, anglers set their sights on a new world record here on the Kenai River!
The World Record King Salmon was 97 Ibs. 4 oz. taken in May 1985 from the Kenai River.
"Most popular driftboat fishery of Alaska"
Kasilof River Salmon
Just 12 miles from Bo's Guide Service in Soldotna, the Kasilof River produces aggressive biting kings that average 25-40 Ibs. This river is one of the most popular driftboat fisheries of Alaska.
In addition, the Kasilof River has great numbers of silvers, sockeye and a fall run of steelhead trout.
We have Native Rainbows in the eight to twelve pound range and each year trophy fish in the eighteen to twenty pound class. Because we have fishing that makes any fisherman excited (and to keep it that way), catch & release is encouraged so that we may have healthy fish returned to the water. In doing so we know the Kenai will remain some of the world's finest fishing rivers.
Kenai River Silver
Salmon
The acrobatic feisty silver salmon enter the Kenai each year in late July and run through September into early October. The silvers are worthy opponents to test all angler's skills. These fish range between 8-20 pounds.
Every year starting at the end of August there is an annual Silver Salmon derby. It sets the tone for competition and fun for all fishermen who enter.
Halibut fishing out of Homer or Ninilchick
One day of your trip should be spent on a halibut fishing adventure. The average halibut taken from Cook Inlet go from 15-75 lbs. with trophy catches of 100 to 200 pounders caught every day of the season. The season runs May-Sept.
